Okay, I’ve got a good question for all you Feng Shui experts out there.

First of all, I’m moving from a dump to a castle almost and I have decided to Feng Shui the whole place.  I’m paying careful attention to the set up, the scents, the whole shebang.  Clutter is not even in my vocabulary anymore.

I have a problem, though, that you might be able to help me with.  I have an antique black rocker that my mother-in-law gave to me when my daughter was just born so that I could rock her to sleep.

We’ve got two forces going on here.  One – a mother-in-law that I never got along with and two – it was the rocker that I rocked my daughter when she was born and my son, five years later.  That rocker has history – both good and bad.

Now, the rocker has been stored in a junk room for years.  I brought it out to move and it was filthy.  I cleaned it up and moved it over to the new place.

Sitting it in a corner of the living room, I thought it looked great, but am I draining the positive energy from the room?  I don’t have a picture to show you as my camera is in one of these boxes somewhere, but the picture above gives you an idea.  It’s actually completely black and the handpainted picture is somewhat different, but this is the style.

Lynn Lee at WhatisFengShui.net has a good suggestion, “…some say that antiques or items that belong to relatives who have passed away should also not be kept out and displayed, as these “dead” things will only drain the positive energy or life force in a room.”

Interesting.  The mother-in-law hated me…bad Feng Shui to keep it in the main living space of the condo?

So now I have to decide whether to move it or not and I think the only way I can figure that out is to sit down in the living room and get a feel of whether there is good “chi” going on here or whether I feel drained.

And then my problem is where to put it if I decide to take it out of the living room.  It’s a nice rocker and I would like to use it.  Any suggestions?
