I just thought I’d check in and let you all know that we’re finally in our new condo overlooking the water on the island of Chincoteague, Virginia.

It is paradise.

If you’ve ever wanted to live like you’re vacationing, this is the place to do it.  I’ll download pictures tomorrow, but I wish you could see the beauty of this place.

The first time I saw a boat going by my front yard, I grabbed the camera…that picture will be downloaded tomorrow.  Awesome!  But you haven’t lived until you experience the thrill of having your condo bombed with oyster and clam shells by careless sea gull litter bugs.  Actually, they’re only trying to open the shells to eat, but what a mess and what a racket!

My daughter came out of her bedroom and said, “I think we have rats or something because there’s a lot of commotion going on up there.”

The wind had been blowing so I figure it was catching into something that was loose on the roof and didn’t pay it any mind.

It didn’t occur to me until the next day when I saw an oyster shell on my back steps and because I saw them all over the road, I figured we were prime bait for target practice.  It’s cool and all that but if any of them hit my head, I’m having gull for Easter dinner.

Speaking of Easter, did you realize it’s but a week from tomorrow?  Our first Easter in paradise.  I bought a hutch (a steal at $125!) at a little shop on the highway that refurbishes furniture and that’s going to look so good in the kitchen when we can get it up the steps.  This place has 3 stories which translates into 3 sets of stairs which is hell if you have something heavy and awkward you have to get up on the 2nd or 3rd floor.  So the hutch is sitting downstairs underneath the carport along with the couch we can’t seem to get up here either.

But, I love it here.  I can’t wait until I get off from work and I hit that causeway.  You haven’t seen anything yet until you’ve seen a sunset, but…you haven’t lived when you’ve seen a full moon shining over the water at night.  Omg, it’s good for the peepers.

So, I’m settled in and enjoying the spacey pad we have now (I even have my own office now!) and will let you know how it goes as I feng shui my life….

Island Girl

You see that picture up there?  That’s what I’ll be able to see every day!

We get the key tomorrow.  I’m so exhausted, I don’t know which end is up.  I’m working on the spare bedroom – aka junk room – as we speak.  I can’t believe all the stuff we have accumulated all the years.  I know the goal is to throw out as much as I possibly can, and I haven’t been too bad about doing that.  You’d be right proud of me because anyone that knows me knows I’m a pack rat.  I can’t toss out anything for fear one day I’m going to need it.

What I’ve been doing, though, is washing every single thing I pack and that’s what’s taking so long and exhausting the living daylights out of me.

But, in another few days, we’ll finally be out of here and into our new living space.

I’m not even sure what we’re going to do – borrow a truck or rent a U-Haul, but something’s got to be decided soon. I’ve loaded the jeep with as many boxes I could because when we go to get the key tomorrow, we’re going to go on over there and unload it and at least that much will be taken care of.

And, believe it or not, I have never been inside.  This is the first place I’ve ever moved sight unseen.  I did peek inside the kitchen door and it leads right through the kitchen, through the hallway and into the living room, right to the sliding glass doors (2 sets of them).

I was telling my friend, Dyan Garris, about how feng shui-ish it looks already and she told me that having the energy flow from the back door is very important but it can’t lead to the sliding glass doors or it will escape so I am to put something in front of it.  I’ve got some indoor plants I’m going to block the energy flow with but I’m going to go out and buy some palm trees.  I think that would look soooo feng-shui-ish!

Anyway, American Idol is getting ready to come on and I still have lots to do in the junk room…errr…spare bedroom, but I’ll check in tomorrow and tell you if I like it.

Cross your fingers!

Yesterday at work, I said a few “out loud” requests to my guides to please help us get this condo we were looking into in which I was going to start Feng Shui-ing my life.  We only had 27 days to find a new place and time was running out.

To back up, the area where I live which is close to work and family and in which I don’t plan on moving away from yet, has limited rentals.  As we had only 30 days to find something else, buying a house was too late.  We had to find something and find it quick.

In the past, I had used a technique that I’m not even sure what to call it, but it was all about contacting those spiritual beings who watch after you.  Some might call it praying and if that’s what I did, then so be it.  But what I’m about to tell you is true and really happened.

One time, at work, we were all being harassed by the manager who was making lewd sexual jokes and “touching” everyone he could because he was cocky and thought he could get away with it.  Because of me going to the head office, the manager was fired; but before that happened, one night I couldn’t take it anymore and I went outside to this special place behind the building and tears were flowing and I said, “Please get me away from here.  I don’t care where it is; New York even!”

Well, New York is about 5 hours away and no way would that happen anytime soon, but it was just a place I threw out there.

Two days later, my daughter walks over to me on the computer and says, “My friend has tickets to go to New York on a tourist bus for only $10 each…would you like to go?”

My mouth dropped.  I had never told her about what I did outside work because it’s something you usually don’t tell people.

Well, long story short, I went to New York.

I thought that was the weirdest thing that ever happened to me.  Do you think?  Nah, I said to myself, it was just a coincidence.

A few years later, my daughter was trying to get past her nursing boards.  She had flunked 2 times.  I knew this was in her life’s plan, so I repeated what I did before.

I went outside and had a little “out loud” talk to whoever was listening.

She passed.

Another time, I wasn’t really talking to anyone but while I was walking the dogs, I was talking to myself (out loud again) about how much I wanted to go to California.  It was a closure thing, I knew, but getting to California to make these closures was out of the question.

About a month later, an online friend had inherited some money and sent me enough for a plane ticket to go.  Haven’t made the trip yet, but it’s forthcoming.

My point is, are these coincidences or does this really work?  I have wished for things to myself, but never actually went to a special place all to myself and said them out loud.  Perhaps, that’s the secret?

I don’t know, but I do know not to take advantage of it and it does work.

So, today, they called.  We got the condo.

And I knew that if we got it, we could afford it because that was in my specifications when I did my spiritual talking to whoever it is that was listening.  You have to be specific…that’s another key to making this work.

So, is it that or is it much like “The Secret“?  By imagining yourself there, you are there?

I have no idea, but I do know that believing that something will happen for you, without any doubts whatsoever, will make it happen.

I’m living proof.

We move on Feb. 18 and I finally get to Feng Shui my life and turn over a new leaf by living the life that will create happiness, well-being and complete freedom from negative thinking and believing that you can have anything you want once you believe you will.

And, believing is the first and most important step.

If you’ve been reading my blog up to now, you know that what I am doing is an experiment to see if creating a flowing energy path in my home will create the a better life and a feeling of peace and well-being for not only myself, but my family as well.  Who wouldn’t want that, right?

I had heard of Feng Shui, but because my mind was cluttered with “I can’t” or “I’m scared to change” philosophies and attitudes, I never got into it.  I’m not sure why…possibly it was a time factor or perhaps I was not motivated.  But the real reason I believe is that my mind was so cluttered is because I wasn’t in the right place – physically and mentally.

By mentally, I mean that there was no room to take on more tasks, what with working around the clock on a new online company I started in March ‘07  and trying to keep up with my offline job.

By physically, I mean that my present living space left me no motivation.  However, on March 1 when I put this Feng Shui to work, all that will change.

But, it starts first in the mind.  Once you understand the benefits of Feng Shui, you start to realizing how fantastic this will make your life.

My daughter and I were in Bed, Bath and Beyond trying to find a new bedspread for my bedroom.  I had tired of the same old thing and wanted something different, but after trapsing from store to store, I never found what I was looking for because, perhaps, I didn’t know what I was looking for in the first place.

I had originally thought I wanted something with blue in it as I had had the same old tired fuscia (although I still love the color) for years and just wanted to change.

But, what I didn’t realize was that maybe it wasn’t the color I was looking for; it was something else.

I just wanted to start over with something new that would revatilize the sagging energy I was getting from the present bedroom.  More on Feng Shui’ing your bedroom later, but it was in Bed, Bath and Beyond where I found my daughter listening to music.  And it wasn’t the usual stuff she listened to.  This was soothing music.  Music that soothed your soul.

The CD was called FENG SHUI: MUSIC FOR BALANCED LIVING.

It changed my world and I will never return to the old one as silly as that sounds.

Little did I know that about a week later, I would find out that my landlord had sold this house and we would be moving.  Where at this point, I’m still not sure, but after a few days of beating myself up emotionally, I thought why not go into this with a Feng Shui mind and attitude.  And what better time to do this.

In the days that follow, I will be showing you how I will be uncluttering my mind as I pack and sort our belongings into boxes ready to be shipped off to our next home.  I’m doing this more for me because I believe that in keeping with the Feng Shui attitude, everything will work out all right.  I believe this is my next step to finding the lifestyle I believe is the real me.

If you were going to incorporate Feng Shui into your life, where would you begin? We hear experts tell us how to take our living spaces and “Feng Shui’ey” them, but where do we start?

What if you had the chance to not only Feng Shui your living spaces, but your entire life including relationships and careers as well? It all starts with creating balance and by using Feng Shui principles to create harmony within your home, your relationships and at the workplace as well.

For those not familiar with Feng Shui, you’re not alone. I was aware that it is the act of creating balance within your life, but that was about it.

I created this blog because I wanted to journal my experiences with creating a Feng Shui environment for myself and by doing so, it might give you ideas on how you, too, can create a harmonious and balanced living.

I will get into all this in upcoming blog posts, but let me back up.

On March 1, I will be uprooted from my present living environment that I have lived for the past twelve years. It’s quite run-down, but I blame it on the fact that I didn’t pressure my landlord – who was the sweetest thing – into fixing it.

I ignored quite a few things that needed addressing and because I work 18 hours a day on my online business and perhaps 20 hours at an offline job, I became overwhelmed in trying to do too many things.

What’s bad about this is that your living spaces are perhaps your lifeline to your moods, your health and your overall being and neglecting that would do more harm in the long run.

I knew this, but after twelve years in the same house, you get comfortable – as badly neglected as it was.

While your comfort zone is a really nice place to be, it also prevents you from changing. I knew I wanted change, but that’s the problem – all I did was talk about it. When the landlord admitted himself he wasn’t a good landlord and we were the best tenants he’d ever had, he also pushed us into a new change by letting us know that he had sold the property and we had 30 days to move.

I sunk into a depression because I had barely enough time to do what I do in any given 24 hours and I knew a move would send me over the edge. But, not only that, where would my next move be? It’s not that a new living place within our area was in the cards as the housing shortage was astronomical.

Friends were telling me that this would be a new start as I had been burning their ears about hating my living environment for years. So, perhaps, if I can look at it as a new beginning and use this opportunity to create a living environment that would create a balanced flow of energy, maybe my lifetime would be increased and it would create a life I had always been dreaming of. Talk will not get you to where you need to go, but actions – even if you have to have a little push to get there.

So, this blog will be a journal of my new beginning and how I will be creating a new living environment from scratch using Feng Shui methods.

I thank you for stopping by and following me on my journey as I Feng Shui my life.
